Team GB are on top form in the London 2012 Olympic Games, however Team GGR have performed some gold medal standard lifts at landmark locations in the capital city.

After travelling 283 metres into the air, our Unic URW-706 mini crane spent 11 weeks at the top of Europe’s tallest skyscraper. This landmark job helped GGR hit the headlines as our crane featured in the Daily Mail’s coverage of the construction project and made several appearances on The Apprentice in the show’s signature overhead shots of the capital.

A range of GGR’s cladding lifters were used to install 400 special insulated glazed cladding panels to The Crystal building on London’s Royal Docks. Three of the Multi-Clad machines (the standard Multi-Clad lifter, Multi-Clad DT6 and DT10) lifted panels from 3 to 17 metres long.

Unic mini cranes are ideal for work in London as these compact machines can be easily transported and set up around busy built up areas. A Unic URW-506 was used with an MR1611 vacuum lifter to handle long and thin pieces of glass under a roof at Heron Tower in the centre of London.

We’re used to squeezing our spider cranes into the tightest of gaps to work in areas that other lifting equipment just can’t reach. GGR has taken on many jobs in London’s Canary Wharf, including when this Unic URW-094 worked in an extremely small space next to the water.

As well as taking on a number of lifting projects at Olympic Park itself, GGR helped put the finishing touches to the nearby Westfield Stratford City shopping centre which opened in September 2011. A host of mini cranes and glass vacuum lifters were used by a team of 20 GGR operators who worked on site to install 200 glass shop fronts, build the 10 metre tall Digital Fountain centrepiece and erect steelwork for a fire escape bridge.

GGR have also proved that they are London lifting champions by completing jobs at the St Botolphs building, One New Change retail centre, Wembley Stadium, the British Museum, Heathrow and Gatwick airports and the Emirates Stadium to name just a few.
