GGR Group is celebrating today’s opening of the highly anticipated Westfield Stratford City retail and leisure park, marking the end of months of hard graft for the mini crane team working on site.

GGR Group has been on hand to help on a number of construction and glazing projects at what is now Europe’s largest urban shopping complex. Unic mini cranes and vacuum lifters were used to install a grand total of 200 glass shop fronts swiftly and safely.

Our Unic URW-095 model was a popular crane thanks to its compact size and light footprint, making it ideal for working within the restricted space inside Westfield.

The larger Unic URW-706 mini crane model was used to lift heavier loads, such as the 10 meter tall, 4 tonne Digital Fountain centerpiece and steelwork for one of the development’s fire escape bridges.

GGR opened a dedicated hire depot at the site which has been a hub of activity, with 30 cranes and vacuum lifters, 120 A-frames, glazing robots, Glasboy floor cranes and other restricted access lifting equipment being available for hire during the course of the project.

20 of our operators have been working tirelessly from the depot and recently our Managing Director, Gill Riley, has been on site steering the team through the last few jobs at Westfield, making sure all the finishing touches were completed in time for today’s grand opening.

Well done team! Now time for some retail therapy…
