A UNIC URW-547 was recently delivered to the biggest airline in Scandinavia, Norwegian Air Shuttle.

Purchased through Norway’s official UNIC Cranes Distributor, Knutsen Maskin AS, the URW-547 will be used to lift and manoeuvre heavy aircraft parts during maintenance work on aircrafts.

Compact yet powerful, the URW-547 offers extended reach, providing a maximum lifting height of 18.2 metres and lifting capacity of 4 tonnes to tackle any lifting challenge.

An option of additional length is given with a quickly installed searcher hook, with angles varying from 0° to 60º and a lifting capacity of up to 500kg.

Anders Kiel of Knutsen Maskin AS said: The fact that the design of the aircraft hangars don’t allow overhead cranes normally makes the service and maintenance work on the aircrafts quite a challenge.

But the UNIC mini cranes are extremely portable and quick to set up and versatile make them ideal for such applications.

With the 400v system and radio remote control the advantages of the mini crane compared to other solutions made the choice for the customer easy. We are delighted of this delivery to Norwegian Air Shuttle and we are happy that our cranes are getting used in more and more areas”.

Graeme Riley CEO of UNIC Cranes Europe, the European Master Dealer for UNIC Furukawa commented “UNIC mini cranes are proving their worth as practical lifting solutions for projects in the aviation industry. UNIC mini spider cranes have already been hired and sold to customers working in some of Europe’s major airports, to provide quick and safe solutions for lifting aircraft parts during important maintenance work. We know the URW-547 will be a welcomed addition to Norwegian Air Shuttles’ maintenance fleet”.
