Fans will have an even better view of the beautiful game from the executive boxes at this football stadium thanks to GGR and our mini spider cranes which was able to expertly install glazing from amongst the seats in the stands.

As part of the stadium’s renovation and expansion project, which will see its capacity increase to over 30,000, 90kg glass window panels needed to be fitted for the new boxes above the stand.

To take on this hard-to-reach glazing job, a compact UNIC URW-095 mini spider crane was able to travel through the narrow passageways around the stadium until it reached its goal and arrived at its lifting location. Its outriggers were precisely placed around the obstacles in the seating area and set up on timber sleepers.

The mini crane teamed up with a 320kg capacity MRT4 vacuum lifter to move the 2.2 metre wide glass sheets from a stillage to the ground’s upper level. With its tilting and rotating functions, the ever-popular MRT4 could easily manipulate the units into exactly the right alignment for installation at a 6.5 metre height.

Recently we’ve proven that we know the score when it comes to tackling lifting challenges in stadiums and sporting venues, read more about how we provided lifting solutions for tricky jobs at Old Trafford, The City of Salford Community Stadium, Edgbaston Cricket Ground, a greyhound racing track in Prague and London’s Olympic Park.
