A Unic URW-706 mini crane was on hand to replace signaling equipment on an overnight job in Macclesfield recently.

The Unic URW-706 is able to lift loads of 6 tonnes and reach a maximum hook height of 19.5 metres.  PTS trained operators were able to work quickly and efficiently on site with this mini crane, which has achieved Network Rail Product Acceptance so is officially approved for working on railway projects.

Firstly the Unic URW-706 assisted in removing the surrounding fence to gain access to the signal and performed a test lift as standard practice. After fixings were taken off the old signal could be removed so the new signal could then be safely lifted and precisely aligned before being attached.

To find out more about how our specialist lifting equipment can be used for a wide variety of projects in the rail industry visit the GGR Rail website. We were recently awarded the top prize in the “Plant and Equipment” category at the Infrarail Awards 2012.
