GGR Group was recently called upon to support a passenger lift installation on a new-build 26-floor commercial office building, providing our UNIC URW-706 Mini Spider Crane alongside one of our experienced operators to ensure the work was completed safely, efficiently and with absolute precision.

From the outset, the project presented the challenges we expected with this type of project. Working within a confined vertical space, with restricted access and limited room for manoeuvre, required a lifting solution that combined power with a compact footprint. The components to be installed weighed up to 2.2 tonnes, demanding a crane capable of delivering both strength and accuracy.

The UNIC URW-706 proved to be the ideal fit. As one of the largest mini spider cranes in the UNIC range, it offers an impressive 6-tonne lifting capacity at a 3-metre radius. Its compact design and adjustable outriggers allow it to operate comfortably in tight or restricted areas.

However, while the machine played a vital role, the expertise of our operator was equally critical to the project’s success. Lift installation is a task that leaves no margin for error. Components must be guided accurately into position within the shaft, often with minimal clearance on all sides. Using the URW-706’s radio remote control, our operator was able to maintain clear visibility and carefully manoeuvre each load into place with controlled, steady movements. This level of precision not only ensured the integrity of the installation but also upheld the highest standards of site safety.

Throughout the project, close communication with the site team ensured lifts were carried out in line with programme requirements, minimising downtime and maintaining workflow efficiency. The combination of advanced lifting equipment and experienced personnel meant that even in a demanding environment, operations ran smoothly.
