GGR Group headed back into the 104°F heat of the desert recently to replace a broken glass unit in the President of the United Arab Emirates’ luxury swimming pool.

In June 2011, the GGR Gulf and Orientals Lifting LLC team travelled to Sheikh Khalifa’s new palace to install 750kg glass units. With a 6 metre overhang to manoeuvre around, it took the lightweight Unic URW-506 mini crane combined with a Hydraulica 1000 vacuum lifter to be able to fit under the building’s roof and safely lower the glass into the pool.

When a damaged piece of glass needed to be replaced this month, the mini crane and vacuum lifter took another 420km trip from the Dubai depot to the remote ‘Empty Quarter’ desert to remove the unit and replace it with a brand new one.

Here’s the Unic URW-506 mini crane in action, looking impressive in the desert sun!
