The project involved lifting and positioning a large section of production-line machinery within an established factory environment, surrounded by existing equipment and structural steelwork.
The GF250 Pick and Carry Crane was positioned inside the facility alongside the production line and used to raise the machinery framework above surrounding equipment. Operatives on the ground monitored and guided the load throughout the lift, helping to control its movement as it was positioned within the factory.
With a maximum lifting capacity of 25 tonnes at 1.5m, the GF250 is designed for lifting, carrying and positioning heavy loads. Its compact pick and carry format allows it to work close to the load, making it particularly useful for industrial environments where larger conventional cranes may not be practical.
The crane is powered by a 96V battery system with a 30kW electric motor, making it well suited to indoor lifting applications. Battery-powered operation avoids the exhaust emissions associated with diesel-powered equipment, an important consideration when working inside enclosed manufacturing environments. It also supports quieter operation, which can be beneficial when carrying out lifting work around established production areas and personnel.
For a drinks manufacturing facility, these characteristics are especially relevant. Food and beverage production environments can place greater emphasis on maintaining a clean and controlled working area, so electrically powered lifting equipment can provide a practical alternative to combustion-powered machinery when suitable for the lift.
The GF250’s manoeuvrability also allowed it to operate within the existing factory layout, where production equipment, building columns and overhead steelwork all formed part of the working environment. Its ability to lift and position heavy components from relatively close range helped support controlled handling of the large machinery framework.
For this project, the GF250 provided the capacity, manoeuvrability and battery-powered operation needed to support the machinery move directly within the production area.
