GGR’s 10 tonne mini crane, the UNIC URW-1006, is proving that sometimes bigger is better when a little extra reach and lifting muscle is required, even on cramped city centre sites.

The UNIC URW-1006 was hired to install glazed units at heights of up to 20 metres for a Manchester apartment block this week. Using the 320kg capacity P11104 4-in-Line glass sucker and the 750kg capacity DSZ2 Slimline lifter, the 1006 mini crane carried glass up from a stillage at ground level, with glaziers in a cherry picker following the load on its ascent up the building. A 1000kg capacity hydraulic fly jib was fitted onto the crane’s telescopic boom to extend the crane’s reach even further.

Even though the UNIC URW-1006 is the biggest of our mini cranes, it is still has the perfectly petite proportions required for working on busy city sites like this where space is often very limited. Only 2000mm wide when in its stowed position, this model can easily be transported into restricted access areas and be positioned around awkward obstacles such as the cabins on this job.

As this UNIC mini crane could be easily repositioned and set up in minimal time, the glass was successfully installed in just two days.

The UNIC URW-1006 still holds the title of being the world’s strongest mini crane, with a massive 30.7 metre maximum lifting height and 24.3 metre working radius. It’s truly a little crane with epic lifting potential.
