Overhang Glazing

The world’s largest capacity mini spider crane, the UNIC URW-1006 was recently hired to help lift glazing into place below a building overhang in the UK.

The 10-tonne capacity mini spider crane worked alongside the MRT4 glass vacuum lifter and Libro 800 overhang beam to help manoeuvre and place this glazing into its optimum install position.

This triple lifting machine team had to work together to help install this new glazing below the buildings overhang in a tight, hard to access area. In order to successfully achieve this lift, the URW-1006 was set up at an angle at the front of the building to allow the glass vacuum lifter and overhang beam to successfully manoeuvre the glazing into its install position.

The Libro 800 overhang beam is a compact counterbalance beam and is ideal for projects of this kind where glass, curtain walling or cladding need to be installed below a building overhang. This popular counterbalance beam can help install material below overhangs of up to 1550mm deep and its compact size and heavy lifting capacity make it perfect for lifting glass in confined, hard to access areas like this.

The MRT4 is one of the most popular glass vacuum lifters in the GGR hire fleet thanks to its versatility and heavy lifting capacity. Its compact size and lightweight frame makes it a proven favourite for both low level and high-level glazing.
