After a successful launch at Bauma 2022 our 17m Electric Telehandlers generated a lot of interest. With Faresin having the leading electric telehandlers on the market this new addition to their range would be a natural addition to Lynch’s increasingly environmentally friendly hire fleet.
Executive Hire Show
Our first exhibition of the year was the Executive Hire Show. On our 5m × 10m stand we utilised the space with a selection of our smaller machines such as the UNIC ECO-095 Mini Spider Crane and Oscar 350 Glazing Robot. The smaller products left enough room for the larger 6.26 Electric Telehandler. This fully electric fleet was a success at the show due to the increasing demand for eco-friendly plant in the industry.
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) accredited our Haddenham depot with the Gold Award for the 8th year in a row. This recognises GGR’s achievement of exemplary best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection.
GGR Group successfully undertook a crucial bridge replacement project at Greenberfield Locks, Barnoldswick. The MCC1005 Mini Crawler Crane was selected for its compact dimensions, 10-tonne lifting capacity, and excellent manoeuvrability. The successful lift, conducted by GGR’s skilled team, showcased the efficiency of the MCC1005 in replacing the bridge with precision.
GGR Group played a pivotal role in a glass installation project in Manchester City Centre. Faced with challenges such as limited storage space, a tight installation timeframe, and intricate site conditions, GGR strategically employed their innovative products—a UNIC URW-095 Mini Spider Crane, a GF42 Pick and Carry Crane, and a P11104 Glass Vacuum Lifter. The URW-095’s reach, GF42’s manoeuvrability, and P11104’s precision proved instrumental in overcoming obstacles, including a narrow recess and the need to avoid air conditioning units.
GGR Group introduced the Faresin 17m electric telehandler to the UK market at Vertikal Days giving visitors the chance to view the new machine in person. Now the largest electric telehandler in the Faresin range it offers up to 8 hours of non-intensive run time and up to 3.5 hours for intensive use as well as a lifting capacity of 4.5 tonnes.
GGR Group installed shuttering for flood defence walls along the River Aire for the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme. Tasked with constructing protective barriers in a challenging riverside location, GGR selected the MCC805 Mini Crawler Crane for this project. With its compact 2500mm width, the cranenavigated the 3m-wide access path effortlessly. The MCC805’s precise controls, robust tracks, and ±13˚ gradeability facilitated the lifting and
positioning of 600kg shuttering over a 4m-high rebar cage.
We attended the UK’s number one exhibition for the window, door, hardware, and flat glass industry. Here we showed off all the best products for lifting and transporting glass. This included two
of our cranes, an MRT4, a glazing robot, and a tracked carrier. Our team was able to assist everyone who came to our stand, advising them on the potential our lifting solutions can bring to their glazing projects.
Presented with the Silver Award under the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, GGR Group has been acknowledged for their outstanding support for the armed forces community and alignment with the Armed Forces Covenant. GGR Group has demonstrated a commitment to providing equal opportunities and flexibility to current and former military members and their families.
Announcing the launch of their new Multi Loader website, GGR Group introduced a dedicated platform to meet the increasing demand for tracked carriers and tracked levellers in the construction industry. Originally introduced to GGR Group’s fleet in 2018 and later becoming the UK dealer partner for the Material Handling Multi-Loader Line in collaboration with AlmaCrawler, the Multi Loader has proven to be an essential machine for handling heavy materials on job sites.
Addressing a unique glazing challenge Aviva Studios (Factory International), in Manchester, GGR Group devised a lift plan and selected the Sky Robot 1500 to tackle the project. The lift required
the installation of intricate glazing screens with unique shapes, large surface areas, and negative angles. The robot’s ability to precisely position glazing units with negative and positive tilts, coupled with its 1500kg maximum capacity and 18m boom extension, ensured the efficient and timely completion of the challenging installation.
Liffey Crane Hire Announced as Official Supplier of Woods Powr-Grip and Unic Mini Spider Cranes in Ireland
Liffey Crane Hire became the official GGR Group partner and supplier for Woods Powr-Grip glass vacuum lifters and UNIC Mini Spider Cranes in Ireland. This partnership provides Irish customers access to cutting-edge technology and enhances lifting capabilities for various projects, combining GGR Group’s expertise with Liffey Crane Hire’s established reputation in the industry.
Art handling specialists, Mtec officially purchased a Multi Loader 5.5 with Crane Attachment from GGR Group. The purchase aligns with the growing demand for tracked transporters in various industries, including art logistics. The Multi Loader 5.5, with its 5500kg bed capacity and 990kg crane capacity, offers a bespoke solution for handling artwork. With a stable base, it can navigate rough terrain and gradients up to 25˚, providing Mtec with enhanced capabilities for art installations, relocations, and other art-handling tasks.
Two of GGR Group’s apprentices were honoured as finalists and winners at the CPA Stars of the Future Awards. Bradley Baker won the ‘National Plant Technician of the Year’ and ‘Plant Technician of the Year North’ awards for his exceptional academic performance, technical proficiency, and dedication. Robert Wilde, a finalist in the ‘Plant Mechanic of the Year North’ category, demonstrated outstanding contributions to his team.
GGR Group received the Training Excellence Award at the 2023 CN Specialists Awards, highlighting their exceptional commitment to providing high-quality training courses in crane operations, vacuum lifters, glazing robots, and more. Apprentice Engineer, Rob Wilde, was also shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year category along with GGR also receiving recognition with nominations in two additional categories: Outstanding Contribution to Specialist Construction and Product Innovation of the Year (Non-Contractor) for their groundbreaking 17m Full Electric Telehandler.
Hosted at GGR Group’s Haddenham headquarters the Industry Lifting Lead AP Group Open Day was sponsored by the group and Skanska. The event drew over 200 attendees, a substantial increase from previous years. The open day served as an event for professionals and innovators to explore cutting-edge technologies, witness kit demonstrations from GGR Group and other industry leaders and engage in discussions on crucial topics like lifting safety and industry advancements.
Recognised for her entrepreneurial excellence, Gill Riley OBE, Managing Director of GGR Group was awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the North of the UK. This follows her 2022 everywoman Woman Of The Year award. Recognised for her commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship Gill is an example of excellent leadership in her industry.
The historic 50ft Sycamore Gap tree which was felled by vandals was delicately removed by GGR’s MCC1004 Mini Crawler Crane. GGR Group’s 10-tonne capacity crawler crane, equipped with robust tracks, navigated the challenging, uneven terrain with ease during the removal process. This event will be marked as a momentous part of the UK’s history and GGR Group are proud to play a role in preserving such a significant landmark.
Celebrating its 18th year this 2-day event hosted by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association was an essential visit for lifting specialists across the UK. Three members of the sales team attended with a selection of GGR’s lifting solutions. The ECO-095 Mini Spider Crane was an ideal machine to show off at our indoor stand as it produces zero fumes. We also had practical equipment such as the MRT4 Glass Vacuum Lifter and Tracked Leveller 3.0 to show off the variety of applications our products have.
In line with the spirit of giving GGR spent December collecting donations for various charities such as Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, a food drive for Middleton Central Foodbank, and toy donations for Home-Start Manchester. Having worked with Home-Start last year GGR were glad to have the opportunity to brighten Christmas for local children.
