GGR’s miniature machines are always waiting in the wings to help with lifting work in the aviation industry. Our compact cranes have been hired and sold to customer’s working in London’s major airports and overseas to provide quick and safe solutions for lifting aircraft parts during important maintenance work.

A G150 pick and carry crane was hired from GGR to help with lifting operations on aeroplanes at London Stansted Airport. The lifting power of this 15 tonne capacity battery powered crane was used to suspend the aircraft’s engines so repairs could be carried out.

Quick to set up, the G150 compact crane model that provided a simple solution for this lifting task includes 180° rear hydraulic turning and can operate to maximum working radius of 6.1 metres and maximum lifting height of 8.5 metres.

A 6 tonne capacity UNIC URW-706 spider crane was purchased by the same UK airline to assist with essential maintenance work on their fleet of 65 aircraft at Luton airport. Bought to replace the airline’s existing ageing mobile cranes, this mini crane was used to lift aircraft components including tail fins, flaps, rudder and exhaust systems as part of the fleet’s regular service schedule.

The mini crane’s remote control capability meant it could be positioned close to the aircraft for the precise operation required for maintenance work. A UNIC URW-376 mini crane was also hired to help install new engines into Tottenham Hotspur FC’s private jet at Heathrow Airport.
