UNIC mini crane at Yankee stadium

Proving that UNIC mini cranes truly are playing in the big leagues all around the world, here’s how a spider crane “knocked it out of the park” when working at the Yankee stadium in New York City.

A 2.9 tonne capacity UNIC URW-376 mini crane was hired from North American UNIC mini crane dealers Spydercrane USA to install metal railings in the concourse and upper decks of the stadium. Opened in 2009, the 50,000 capacity Yankee Stadium is the home of the New York Yankees baseball team.

Using the UNIC URW-376 mini crane on this project meant that the 320kg railings could be lifted into place and fitted safely without the need for expensive scaffolding.  At just 1300mm, this model was narrow enough to fit through the access doors and offered the reach required to complete the job.

Only machines which emit minimal fumes are allowed to work in the concourse, which meant the UNIC diesel/ electric dual powered mini crane model was the ideal choice for lifting inside the stadium itself. The crane worked so efficiently that the work was finished in just one day when the customer Enterprise Architectural Sales had estimated that it would take a week!  Thanks to the success of this job they plan to use UNIC mini cranes again for future work in the stadium.

GGR Group’s UNIC mini cranes often work on lifting projects at stadiums and sports venues around the UK, such as the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, Aquatics Centre in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Britannia football stadium in Stoke and The SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow.
