UNIC Cranes Europe, part of GGR Group has launched an exciting new partnership which will see its equipment used in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

The UNIC URW-547 spider crane, which can lift up to four tonnes but has a total stowing width of just 1.4 metres, is being made available on the French island of Reunion through local company DMP, which is part of the Groupe de Courcy.

It’s the first time UNIC Cranes Europe’s equipment has been used on the island, and the company is confident it will be the start of a successful partnership.

jeanineUNIC Cranes Europe sales manager Jeanine De Cock said: “We’re extremely pleased to have secured this partnership with DMP to provide the UNIC URW 547 spider crane for hire in Reunion. DMP is, like us, a family-run company which prides itself on quality of service and customer satisfaction, so it’s great to be working with them.

“The UNIC URW 547 is a fantastic piece of equipment in that it is small and convenient to store and work with, but can handle heavy loads. It has been used in a range of situations, from scaling the heights of Snezka Mountain in the Czech Republic to help build a new aerial cableway terminal to installing a memorial to Bomber Command at Beachy Head in Eastbourne. It’s also available for rental in Austria, Norway,  Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa and UAE

“In Reunion, it is currently being used for constructing electricity pylons. DMP says that without the URW 547, the project would not be possible because of access difficulties.

“We look forward to seeing how it will be used on other projects in the future.”
