MCC804 at Leicester market

A mini crawler crane hired from GGR Group proved to be the ideal machine to carry heavy timber beams down the narrow streets in Leicester city centre as it helped start building work on a new indoor market.

The 8 tonne capacity MCC804 mini telescopic crawler crane was used to transport five wooden beams weighing up to 3.5 tonnes and measuring up to 25 metres in length to the site of Leicester market’s new food pavilion.  The “glulam” glued laminated timber beams were so large that they had to be made in Denmark and shipped in especially for this project.

Thanks to the MCC804 crane’s narrow 2490mm wide chassis and robust tracks, it could easily travel the 100 metre distance through narrow streets and over uneven ground.

The MCC804 crawler crane model boasts a 6 tonne pick and carry capacity, user-friendly precision joystick controls and a 13.7 metre maximum lifting height from its four section extending telescoping boom.

GGR’s compact cranes have been used for lifting projects on Britain’s markets before. Read more about how a UNIC mini crane helped repair a door at Grade II listed Accrington market.
