Leading lifting solutions specialists GGR Group has provided another family run business its first, very own Galizia pick and carry crane.

Sangwin, based in Hull, has taken delivery of a G150. It’s the first time the Sangwin Group has bought equipment from GGR Group, and the handover took place at the recent Vertikal Days at Haydock Park Racecourse.

Able to lift 15 tonnes at 0.9m, the G150 is a battery-powered pick and carry crane with 180 degree rear hydraulic turning and a fully featured operator cab. A great alternative to Shuttle lift cranes, the G150 has a longer boom and optional searcher hook giving a generous working height of 11.4m.

Michael Heneghan, sales director at GGR Group, said: “We have forged a close working relationship with Sangwin Group, which has hired equipment from us for a range of jobs, including the G150. To support their continued business growth in the machine installation sector, they decided to purchase a G150. As the market leader for lifting solutions with the biggest fleet and the largest capacity equipment for sale and hire, we were the natural choice for them.”

Andrew Fenton, operations director at Sangwin, said: “There are many similarities between us and GGR Group – we’re both family-run companies with an emphasis on providing a quality service for our customers. I’m delighted with this purchase which, I believe, will be the first of many.”

GGR Group Europe’s leading supplier of vacuum handling equipment, compact pick and carry cranes, UNIC mini spider cranes and restricted access lifting machinery.

The business was established in 1995 by brother and sister team Graeme and Gill Riley, who now hold the posts of chief executive and managing director respectively.

From small beginnings, the company employs over 100 people across three UK sites; its headquarters in Oldham, near Manchester; Long Crendon in Buckinghamshire and at Blantyre in Scotland. The company also has a network of around 30 dealers across Europe and the United Arab Emirates.

Its machines have been used to install glass on prestigious construction projects including, among others; The Shard in London – one of the tallest buildings in western Europe – Manchester’s Lowry Centre and Bridgewater Hall, the Houses of Parliament, the Tate Modern art gallery, the Royal Opera House, Heathrow Terminal 5 and the Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood.

Earlier this year, it won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.
