GGR Valentine's cardsAs we have a soft and romantic side here at GGR underneath all the oil and engine grease, we thought we’d share some advice on how to woo that special lady or gent in your life this Valentine’s Day.

Here’s our top ten tips for a successful Valentine’s Day 2014 weekend…

#1  – For those with a sweet tooth…

A heart shaped box of chocolates is pretty much a fool-proof option for those lacking a bit of Valentine’s Day inspiration.

Our UNIC mini spider cranes come from Japan where it is tradition for women to give chocolates to all their males coworkers on February 14th. The GGR ladies won’t be following in Japan’s footsteps, we’re keeping the chocolates for ourselves!

Here’s one of our mini cranes helping to build a chocoholic’s dream, a giant Cadburys chocolate fountain.

#2 – Say it with flowers

Nothing beats a bunch of roses with a slushy message on the card. Just don’t get them from the petrol station!

Our rose red mini cranes are regularly spotted working amongst the floral displays at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

#3 – Crack open the bubbly

Pop the cork on a (fairly) pricey bottle of plonk and celebrate the most romantic day of the year by getting a little bit tipsy in style.

GGR’s new Kombi 7441-Quadra vacuum lifter was used to help glaze the new Moët & Chandon factory in France which manufactures most of the company’s luxury champagne.

#4 – Go on a shopping spree

Splash a bit of cash and treat your loved one to a shopping spree around Prada or Primark depending on your budget.

GGR’s lifting equipment has been used to help construct and glaze designer shops, massive shopping centres and popular high street stores. Take a look at our photo gallery.

#5 – Get a bit steamy in the hot tub

Maybe not advisable in this cold and rain, but if you are lucky enough to have a hot tub to hand it might make for an interesting Valentine’s night – don’t forget your Speedos!

Here’s a UNIC mini crane installing a new hot tub in a customer’s back garden.

#6 – Watch a chick flick at the cinema

Going to the cinema is a classic Valentine’s date option. Make sure you buy plenty of popcorn, don’t skimp on the Pick ‘n’ Mix and don’t try to convince your significant other that “Robocop” is a romantic comedy!

Take a look at this UNIC mini crane and DSZ2 glass lifter on a tricky glass installation job at the Everyman cinema in Leeds.

#7 – A Night at the Theatre

For a more cultured night out, a trip to theatre could be a winning choice. Dress up to the nines and don’t fall asleep in the middle of that long Shakespeare monologue!

GGR’s UNIC mini cranes have worked at both the Shakespeare Globe and St James Theatre in London.

#8  – Book a 5 star suite

Escape for the night and book Valentine’s night in a luxury hotel room – rose petals on the bed are obligatory!

Go for romantic locations that GGR’s lifting equipment has worked at such as a stylish suite at the Hilton hotel or a cosy countryside log cabin.

#9 – Take a romantic mini break

There’s nowhere more romantic for a lover’s weekend away than Paris.  This UNIC mini spider crane was spotted at the Eiffel Tower by an eagle-eyed tourist.

#10 – Put a ring on it

If you’re feeling especially brave this Valentine’s Day you could get down on one knee and propose to your significant other!

GGR’s mini cranes have worked at amazing locations to tie the knot, such as a registry office with a view of Blackpool Pier and picturesque cathedrals in Ripon and Nantes, France.

Remember if you’re really stuck for a Valentine’s gift for your loved one, visit the GGR Glass online shop. Everyone knows that there’s nothing more romantic than a hand cup… apart from a GGR themed Valentine’s card that is! Especially for the crane enthusiast in your life…

Lots of love from GGR xx
