UNIC URW-376 crane lifts figure on top of statueThe world’s strongest mini spider crane, the UNIC URW-1006 has been used to move Sheffield’s man of steel for a second time.

The sculpture entitled ‘Tall Dreams’ took pride of place in the courtyard of Velocity Village when it was installed in 2014. Further development on the residential and office complex meant that this giant had to be moved to its new home 2 metres away. This tall order called for the awesome lifting power of the UNIC URW-1006 with its 10t capacity and maximum lifting height of 22.8m it easily handled the 1800kg, 4 metre tall column putting it into place before resting the 1.5 metre tall sculpture on top.

The UNIC URW-1006 is fitted with a state-of-the-art safe load indicator with high resolution colour LCD display, as well as radio remote control which gives operator feedback ensuring that this important sculpture was lifted safely.

Tall Dreams statue in Sheffield‘Tall Dreams’ was designed by artist Steve Medhi and shares the same signature style as his proposed Yorkshire Man of Steel sculpture, a 30 metre tall sculpture that is hoped will be Yorkshire’s answer to the Angel of the North.
