GGR’s vacuum lifter installing glass at panda house

This weekend saw the highly anticipated arrival of Edinburgh Zoo’s new star attractions, Tian Tian (“Sweetie”) and Yang Guang (“Sunshine”) the Giant Pandas.

Earlier this year GGR Group helped create enclosures for the pair, lifting large panes of glass to create a viewing wall for visitors to take a look at these rare animals. Using a Hydraulica 1000 vacuum lifter, we were able to lift 10 heavily laminated 500kg glass panels into place with ease.

The latest news has been that the pandas are settling in well and seem to be enjoying their new home, despite being a little jet-lagged. The breeding pair live separately in twin enclosures which are joined by a ‘tunnel of love’, so hopefully the enclosure will also house some baby pandas in the near future!

The public will be able to take a first glimpse of Scotland’s new celebrities when the enclosure officially opens on the 16th December.
