Ultra-Clad 1000 on Quartermile Q20 project

GGR’s strongest cladding machine, the Ultra-Clad 1000, takes centre stage in the “Speedy Suckers” article in this month’s issue of The Construction Index magazine.

As part of their cladding issue, TCI features the story of how our 1000kg capacity vacuum lifter was used to install over 1000m² of BENCHMARK Konnect Engineered Façade System panels to the Meadows View 11 storey residential building in Edinburgh.

Lifting oversized cladding panels with the Ultra-Clad 1000

By using the Ultra-Clad 1000 with the on-site tower crane and one of GGR’s Libro 500 counterbalanced beams for working under tricky overhangs, the five-strong installation team on the Quartermile Q20 project were able to lift and fit these oversized pre-engineered modules in just 10 days.

Making its debut appearance on this job, the 30 pad Ultra-Clad 1000 lifter used its tilt function to pick up each oversized panel from its stack then move it from a horizontal to vertical position ready for fitting onto the building’s facade.

A big success for the Quartermile project, this time-efficient and safer method of lifting was less labour intensive, involved minimal manual handling and shaved an impressive three weeks off the project’s installation schedule.
