Colleagues from leading lifting solutions specialist GGR Group’s Long Crendon office have raised over £500 for Cancer Research UK.

Rhiannon Spelman, Katie Sadler, Suzi Kershaw, Nicole Harris, Rebecca Simkins, Ellie O’Donnell, Eve Watkins, Katherine Budd and Ana Carrico took part in the Race For Life event at Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury, on Sunday

Katherine and Eve were already in training for The Great South Run this October, but the rest decided to join in to help raise money for a good cause and get fit at the same time.

Rhiannon Spelman, office manager at the Long Crendon Industrial Estate office, said: “We were fortunate to have beautiful weather on Sunday and the atmosphere was great. That motivated everyone to do their best as well as a bit of friendly competitiveness!

“The route was more difficult than we expected as it was hilly, however the views were beautiful.

“Our finishing times varied between 25 minutes  and 45 minutes – some ran while others walked. A couple of the girls who hadn’t really trained did better than they ever expected and ran the whole route. We managed to raise £535 between us.”

Gill Riley, managing director of GGR Group, said: “We’re really proud of the girls for giving up their own time to raise money for charity. They were a bit sore the following day, but said it was well worth it! Well done to them all.”
